Just two-hours by from the well-connected Managua International Airport, lies San Juan del Sur, a charming fishing village nestled at the head of a horseshoe-shaped bay on the Pacific coast of southern Nicaragua featuring spectacular ocean views and an expanse of unspoiled land.

The lovely bay is dotted with small, private yachts and fishing boats showcasing amazing sunsets in the evenings. The most popular surfing beach being Playa Maderas located just a 20-minute ride from San Juan Del Sur. Even if you're not a surfer, numerous beaches invite your exploration and while you take in the superb scenery. Besides that, you’ll have the chance to see nature at it’s best: forests, fishes and (rare) birds. San Juan is also known for its turtle refuge sanctuary and this is the place where you can spot both enormous and tiny (endangered) sea turtles.

The inhabitants of San Juan del Sur make their living fishing, diving, and catering to the visitors drawn to the bay's beautiful white-sand beaches, smooth waters, and ecological richness. In and around San Juan, you are sure to find plenty to see and do — or you might prefer doing nothing at all-pure and utter relaxation-in one of Nicaragua's most beautiful areas.

Restaurants and bars dot the San Juan Del Sur beachfront and are all quite pleasant. The Iguana Bar and Rocamar Beach Bar offer an evening of local color and nightlife. Rocamar shows movies and concerts on the big screen while serving up authentic smoked foods right on the beach.
